Instructor Spotlight: Meet Lieya Hanelin, Your Guide to Calm and Clarity

For the upcoming Intro to Meditation and Mindfulness Workshop at Dance Masters, participants will be guided by Lieya Hanelin, a meditation facilitator, hypnotherapy practitioner, and creative guide devoted to helping people feel more grounded, clear, and present in their everyday lives. Her work brings together evidence‑supported benefits of meditation—like improved emotional regulation and nervous system balance—with creative practices that help people express and process what they feel instead of pushing it down.

A bridge between creativity and healing

Lieya’s background as a performing artist and studio owner gives her a unique perspective on stress, performance pressure, and the need for authentic self‑expression. She understands how easily emotions can get buried under busy schedules and expectations, and her teaching is designed to help people reconnect with themselves in a way that feels safe, compassionate, and practical.

As a meditation facilitator, hypnotherapy practitioner, and creative guide, Lieya blends meditation, hypnotherapeutic techniques, and flow‑state principles to help participants access clarity and emotional regulation. Rather than treating emotions as problems to fix, she supports people in understanding and working with their emotional landscape so that feelings can move, integrate, and inform wiser choices.

Meditation for real‑life nervous system support

Research shows that meditation can reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and shift brain regions connected with memory, attention, and resilience. Lieya teaches meditation as a practical tool for nervous system regulation, helping participants learn how to move out of constant “fight or flight” and into a more balanced, grounded state they can access throughout the day.

With a background in emotional literacy and somatic awareness, she emphasizes practices that anchor awareness into the body—such as body‑scan style exercises that gently tune into physical sensations and release tension. This approach makes meditation feel tangible and accessible, especially for those who struggle to “get out of their head” or who have found traditional techniques challenging in the past.

Grounded, integrative, and designed to last

Lieya’s teaching style is grounded and integrative: she weaves together science, intuition, and creative embodiment so participants understand both why and how the practices work. Instead of treating the workshop as a one‑time “escape,” she focuses on giving people concrete skills—breath practices, awareness tools, and somatic check‑ins—they can return to long after the event ends.

Mindfulness and meditation programs have been shown to improve attention, mood, and emotional resilience over time, especially when tools are simple enough to integrate into daily routines. In that spirit, Lieya designs each session so that participants leave not only feeling more centered in the moment, but also confident about how to continue their practice at home, at work, and in their relationships.
