What a Day at Summer ARTS Camp Really Looks Like

One of the most common questions we hear is, “What will my child actually be doing all day?” That’s a fair question—especially if you’re entrusting us with their summer weekdays.

We’ve designed Summer Arts & Dance Camp around a clear, kid‑friendly structure. Each day follows a rhythm that balances movement, creativity, rest, and social time.

Here’s a sample day:

  • 9:00–9:30 – Welcome, Warm‑Up & Games Campers check in, reconnect with their group, and start the day with movement and community‑building games.

  • 9:30–10:20 – Arts Rotation 1 (Music or Dance) Depending on the day and group, they might learn a rhythm pattern, work on a song, or dive into choreography.

  • 10:20–10:40 – Snack & Movement Break A chance to refuel, stretch, and reset.

  • 10:40–11:30 – Arts Rotation 2 (Music or Dance) Building on the morning’s work or switching disciplines to keep things fresh.

  • 11:30–12:45 – Lunch & Supervised Free Time Time to eat, chat, and play games with staff present. This is often where friendships deepen.

  • 12:45–1:30 – Arts Rotation 3 (Visual Arts or Theatre) Campers might be painting, building props, or exploring character and storytelling.

  • 1:35–2:20 – Arts Rotation 4 (Visual Arts or Theatre) Projects progress toward something sharable by Friday—an art piece, a skit, or a scene.

  • 2:20–3:00 – Snack, Rehearsal & Closing Circle The day ends with either rehearsal for Friday’s sharing time or a closing activity to reflect on what they learned.

Throughout the week, each group experiences a mix of music, dance, visual arts, and theatre, with activities differentiated by age (6–11 vs. 12–15) and experience level.

Why structure matters:

This predictable pattern helps kids feel safe and know what to expect, while still leaving plenty of room for spontaneity and creativity. It’s especially helpful for kids who thrive on routine, or who might be a little nervous starting something new.
